With the leaves turning red, gold and pumpkin, the autumn season in Europe is simply stunning, and Belgium is certainly no exception! As the colder months are approaching our doorstep, this is the perfect time to discover Brussels’ best parks and spots for autumn walks.
So grab your scarf, umbrella and gloves, and let’s go get some crisp air!
In a rush? Pin this for later!

1. Parc d’Osseghem
Located right next to the famous Atomium, the ‘Parc d’Osseghem’ is a great location to add to your Brussels bucket list in the autumn season. This park is probably the quietest and most “off the beaten path” spot in this post.

How to get there?
Metro line 6 (Roi Baudouin), hop off at Heysel and walk for around 10 minutes.
What are the best things to do in the area?
- Atomium
- Parc de Laeken
- Museum of the Far East/Japanese Tower

2. Parc de Bruxelles

It’s impossible to visit Brussels without stopping by the beautiful ‘Parc de Bruxelles’ located opposite the Royal Palace. Even though this park is worth a visit all year long, autumn is definitely the best season to stroll in its alleys. The pictures speak for themselves!
How to get there?
- Metro line 1 (Stockel) or 5 (Erasme), stop at Parc and walk for around 2 minutes.
- Metro line 2 (Simonis) or 6 (Elisabeth), stop at Art-loi or Trône and walk for 5-7 minutes.
What are the best things to do in the area?
- European Parliament
- Royal Palace of Brussels
- Mont des Arts

3. The Muziekkiosk

Built in 1841, this beautiful gazebo is technically part of the ‘Parc de Bruxelles’. However, as this is one of my favourite (kind of) hidden gems, I figured that it deserved a whole section in this post. I mean, look at it!
How to get there?
Once you’ve reached the entrance of the ‘Parc de Bruxelles’, simply type the following code into Google maps: R9V7+Q6 Bruxelles
4. Square du Petit Sablon

I still remember the first time I spotted this stunning little park which quickly became one of my favourite Brussels parks. It’s quite unique and is definitely worth stopping by in fall/autumn!
Good to know: the statues along the balustrade offer a walk through Belgium’s 16th century. Will you dare to research each of them? Just an idea 😀
Another fun fact, the smaller statues which ornate the iron fence surrounding the park represent different crafts of the time.
And, finally, if you’re in Brussels in late October, make sure to taste Coco Donuts’ Halloween themed donuts (Rue Sainte-Anne 36, 1000 Bruxelles).
How to get there?
- If you’re already in the city centre, you can easily do it on foot in around 15 minutes from the Grand Place.
- You can also take the bus 95 (Wiener), stop at Petit Sablon and then walk for 2 minutes.
What are the best things to do in the area?
- Chocolate shopping
- Have a look at the art galleries’ windows
- Grab a donut at Coco Donuts
- Walk to the ‘Place royale’
- Visit the Magritte Museum

5. Parc du Cinquantenaire

Last but not least, the ‘Cinquantenaire park’ is without a doubt a must-see in Brussels, particularly in autumn. If you feel brave enough, you might even catch a glimpse of a stunning sunrise.
How to get there?
Metro line 1 (Stockel) or 5 (Herman-Debroux), hop off at Schuman and walk for around 5 minutes.
What are the best things to do in the area?
- Autoworld
- Royal Museums of Art and History
- Royal Museum of the Armed Forces and Military History
